A Great Start to 2023

Our 2021 Vintage Gets All the Love
The new year has kicked off with some great news about our wines from the 2021 vintage–VOLTA, MAGARI, and INTERO.

First, it was news from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, where the VOLTA Cuvée–our Rhône blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah, and 20% Mourvèdre which many of you have already begun to enjoy–was awarded a Gold Medal by the judges. Not to be outdone, our MAGARI Cuvée–the next generation of our Cabernet Sauvignon & Syrah blend that you came to love in the 2020 SOREN Cuvée–also received a Gold Medal from the panel. For perspective, there were over sixty judges, representing various North American wine regions, evaluating 5,500 wines from nearly 1,000 wineries for this year’s San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Not too shabby.

Then we were sent reviews from Wine Enthusiast Magazine for the MAGARI Cuvée as well as the INTERO Syrah. Here they are:

92 Points | 2021 MAGARI Cuvée
This bold, spicy wine brings potent blackberry and black pepper to the nose and vivid black cherries and grilled plums to the palate. Moderate tannins and a full body make the 50-50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah firm enough to pair with the richest proteins.

94 Points | 2021 INTERO Syrah
Flavorful yet well balanced, this detailed, elegant wine features focused blackberry and raspberry flavors, moderate tannins and subtle, complex accents of wood smoke, black pepper and grilled herbs. The wine was made with the help of wholecluster fermentation, foot treading, native yeast and neutral barrels. Hidden Gem

Suffice to say, we are very grateful for the wonderful recognition all three wines from the 2021 vintage received from the judges and the wine press. The VOLTA is currently available on our website, while the MAGARI and INTERO wines will be in our Fall Wine Club Release coming in September.

Speaking of Wine Club
The upcoming Spring Wine Club shipment features our two newest wines–the 2022 FESTA Bianco and 2022 FESTA Rosso. These “party” wines were made to be served chilled for the warm weather of spring and summer and are named in honor of Lucia Festa Puppione–great grandmother to Chris. Along with her husband Pietro, Lucia brought her two children to Oakland, CA in 1913 from Italy. And in her basement, Pietro made the first Puppione wines–and we literally follow in his stomp steps today.

Not In the Wine Club?
Fear not! You can still purchase our current releases, like the VOLTA Cuvée (HERE). Or better yet, you can JOIN the PFW Wine Club today (HERE) and enjoy priority access to our wines–like the new FESTA wines and the award-winning MAGARI and INTERO.
